Boeing 787 Dreamliner To Be Front And Center At Singapore Airshow

Boeing's 787 Dreamliner is set to take center stage at this weeks upcoming Singapore Airshow which opens Tuesday. ANA has already flown one it its two Dreamliners to Singapore in preparation and Boeing will be making a big push to attract buyers and announce deals.

Boeing is trying to overcome a beleaguered image resulting from the delayed launch of its much touted Dreamliner, originally scheduled to enter service three years earlier but only finally delivered its first plane late last year.

The 787 is a medium sized long haul aircraft constructed of extensive carbon composite materials making it "lightweight" compared to other aircraft of similar size, and is by far more fuel efficient that other Boeing aircraft. It will also have a lower cabin pressure and higher humidity levels making passengers more comfortable and feel less exhausted.

Not to be outdone, Airbus will have on display a full size mock up of the A350 XWB which is still under development and is scheduled for release in 2014. Some, however, have said the realistic date is more like late 2015 because the company has had to move resources around during the economic downturn, though Airbus itself has not mentioned this publicly yet.

Bombardier, Gulfstream and Embraer will also be present pushing their newest long range private jets and regional jets.

Asia is considered strategically important for aircraft manufacturers because it is estimated that Asia will account for 29 percent of global aircraft deliveries by 2026.
