U.S. Soldier Kills 16 Afghan Civilians On Rampage
Washington, D.C. -
A lone U.S. soldier walked off his Army base in Afghanistan overnight and killed at least 16 Afghan civilians by going house to house and shooting indiscriminating. Reports suggest it was a Staff Sergeant, but so far officials are not confirming anything other than after the attack he returned to the base and turned himself in.
The incident happened in the Najeeban village and a investigative task force from the provincial governor's office has already arrived to begin jointly investigating the incident.
The soldier - who reportedly suffered a breakdown before the attacks - is said to have handed himself over to the US military authorities after carrying out the killings.
US EMBASSY - KABUL
The U.S. Embassy in Kabul has issued a warning of likely reprisal attacks against Americans and other westerners in Afghanistan.
