BMW Issues Recall Of 367,000 Cars Due To Faulty Battery Cable Causing Fires

BMW has said it is issuing a recall for 1.3 million cars, including 367,000 in the United States due to a fualty battery cable that could cause a fire even if the car was not on.

BMW 5 Series Sedans and Sport Wagons made between June of 2003 and March of 2010 are included in the recall as well as 6 Series Coupes and Convertibles made between September 2003 and July 2010.

BMW said the bolt that connecting the cable in the trunk may have been installed incorrectly in some cases which could result in various electrical systems to malfunction or the vehicle to catch fire, even while it is off.

BMW said it will be mailing a letter to customers letting them know of the recall and to take their car to the nearest BMW dealer for inspection and repair.
