Atlanta, GA –

Newt Gingrich’s campaign will be laying off some staff members amid low donations and low cash on hand but contends the candidate is still in the race for the Republican nomination.

Gingrich told WTOP radio station, “We’re staying in, that’s exactly why we’re downsizing, cash flow is shorter than we’d like it to be so we’re doing the appropriate things to be able to campaign.”

The candidate will lay off about one-third of his entire staff, and begin to focus on strategy at the convention, hoping it will be a brokered convention, instead of hitting the campaign trail where he is loosing to his closest rival, Rick Santorum.
