Alarm bells are sounding in capitals around the world after new satellite images show North Korea near completion of another nuclear test tunnel. The heightened sense of alarm is increased because the reclusive country will also be launching a long-range rocket with a satellite payload soon. Western nations fear this rocket launch is an exercise in developing the nations long range nuclear capabilities.
Satellite photos of the Punggye-ri site in the northeast past of the country show dirt being excavated and other signs that the underground location is nearly ready.
Pyongyang has confirmed that it is digging tunnels for the test, but western nations fear being too critical or taking more steps to punish the country because last time it launched a rocket and was punished, the nations walked away from nuclear talks.
