Miami, Fla. -
Manager Ozzie Guillen of the Miami Marlins has been suspended for five games effective immediately after he told Time Magazine last week that he loves Fidel Castro, the Cuban dictator, and respects him for staying in power for as long as he did.
An immediate firestorm erupted over his comments, though he has since apologized saying that he feels very bad for what he said saying that he "does not love Fidel Castro."
"Anybody who wants to be there, feel free," said Guillen, who says he has offered several personal apologies to individuals as well. "I don't want to make a statement because I think when you make a statement it's a bunch of crap. I want people to look at my eyes and look at my face and see what's going on, tell what the deal was, and that's it."
