Delta Flight 73 Makes Emergency Landing In Dublin Over Suspicious Device Found Onboard
Delta Airlines, flight 73, made an emergency landing in Dublin while it was en-route from Istanbul to New York JFK due to the cabin crew finding a suspicious device in the bathroom of the Boeing 767-300 airplane.
The plane land landed safely and was parked in an isolated area of the airport when law enforcement officials boarded the plane and discovered a cell phone that had been plugged into a shaving socket inside the bathroom. When announced what they found, a passenger came forward to claim it.
The phone has been left in the bathroom wrapped in it's charging cable, apparently to prevent the cable from getting tangled up by other passengers.
No arrests were made and the plane refueled for its departure to New York.
A Delta spokesperson acknowledged the landing saying it is aware of a “possible security situation.”
“As a precaution, they elected to divert to Dublin and landed without incident.”
The spokeswoman said the safety and security of Delta’s passengers and crew was its number one priority and as a matter of policy it did not comment on security matters.
