Florida Polytechnic Newest School In Polk County After Gov. Signs Senate Bill 1994; No Longer Part Of USF

Florida governor Rick Scott has signed into law SB 1994 creating Florida Polytechnic university, splitting it off from its former collegiate partner USF.

The new university will be the state's 12th public university and will start as its own on July 1st, and will get $33 million in initial funds from the state.

So far the logistics have not been worked out, and many faculty and staff are wondering what it means for them.

One of the stated goals is for the newest Florida university to gain national and international prestige with leading scientific studies.
