Sanford Police Chief Bill Lee Will Resign Over Criticism Department's Handling Of Trayvon Martin Shooting
Sanford, Fla. -
Sanford Police Chief Bill Lee will resign due to the public criticism of his department's handing of the investigation of Trayvon Martin. A spokesperson with the department made the announcement and said his resignation will be effective as of midnight.
Lee had previously stepped down on a temporary basis to remove himself from the process hoping to limit the public's outrage and then later resume his position but that has not happened, instead bowed to pressure from the public and with the US Justice Department investigating the Sanford Police department and its handling of the case it became the only option.
