Florida Man Tries To Board Plane With Loaded 9mm Glock Handgun At BWI Airport
Baltimore, MD -
A Palm Harbor Florida man has been arrested for attempting to board an airplane with a loaded 9mm Glock handgun and 10 rounds of ammunition. The 60 year old man, Michael Menlo Smith, is facing two gun charges plus attempting to board a plane with a loaded gun. Smith was also allegedly carrying two additional magazines, each loaded with 10 rounds, the TSA said.
TSA security screeners found the gun during a routine search in the man's carry-on bag and alerted the Maryland Transportation Authority Police. Police added that Smith does not have a concealed weapons permit.
"Weapons are not permitted in carry-on baggage," the TSA said in a news release. "Some weapons are permitted to be transported in checked baggage, but passengers should check with the airlines and local laws before doing so."
