Sheriff Deputies arrested Hector Rodriguez as the second suspect in the Cady Way Trail murder of Winter Park High School students Nicholas Presha And Jeremy Stewart.
Deputies say that 31 year old Rodriguez was caught at 8:30pm this evening at the Nob Hill Apartments and that they recovered a handgun believed to have been used in the murders. Demings also said that the two students, Presha and Stewart, were attempting to sell stolen handguns when the deal went bad.
Both 30 year old Jesse Davis, who is already in jail on other charges, and Rodriguez have been charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping and other charges. Demings called the two suspects now in custody as "cold heartless killers."
On April 15, the bodies of Winter Park High School students Nicholas Presha and Jeremy Stewart were found dead on the Cady Way Trail in Winter Park having been bound, shot in the back of the head and their bodies burned.
Their bodies were discovered by bicyclists around 6:30am Sunday morning who then called 911.
The scene of the murders has seen a steady stream of visitors who lay flowers and hold vigils. Friends of the two students say they have never seen either involved in drugs or other illegal activities.
More details on the arrest will be posted as they arrive.
