Family Of Student Who Was Refused His Inhaler Suing School District
In a press conference on Thursday the family of a Deltona High School student Michael Rudi announced that they plan on suing the Volusia County School District and the school nurse who refused to administer the students prescribed inhaler during an asthma attack. The nurse reports that this was due to there being no signature on a medical release. The Rudi family is requesting that the nurse be suspended. Further more the family announced they are even planning on suing the Volusia Sheriff for failing to investigate the matter.
Nancy Walt the school districts spokesperson said that state law requires that administrators confiscate undocumented prescription medication. She further refutes that they were asked to call 911 and said that both an administrator and a nurse monitored the teen at all times. She also goes on to say that the teen was never on the floor suffocating as being alleged.
