An airboat captain doing a tour with six tourist on board had his hand bitten off by an alligator he had been feeding according to reports and witnesses.
Captain Wally, as he is known, reportedly was feeding alligators and leading one of them around when the alligator had enough and bit off his hand.
Captain Wally was transported to a Naples hospital. The alligator was caught and immediately dissected and the hand was retrieved. Doctors hope they will be able to reattach then hand.
The The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said in a quick statement that people are not suppose to feed wildlife and that most attacks happen because of human intervention such as feeding or trying to make a wild animal a pet.
