Washington, D.C. –
In the rush of the news business to be the first to report news, both FOX and CNN announced that the Supreme Court ruled against the Obama administration in the Healthcare law challenge.
Both networks announced their own version of the news on air and with a ticker along the bottom and even tweeted it before realizing they were wrong.
Once the Supreme Court released its decision along with opinions, both networks apparently only read the first section of Chief Justice John Roberts opinion saying the federal government could not force states to expand their Medicaid program or lose federal health funding, something he said was a state’s right.
This was enough to start the news blog rolling.
However in further reading his written opinion, he gave other reasons why the law should be upheld and ultimately voted with the courts four liberals uphold the healthcare law.
Both networks have since corrected their statements.
