TSA To Fire 8 Air Marshals For Drinking On The Job, 6 More Suspended

The TSA said it will fire eight air marshals, including one supervisor, wil be fired for drinking alcohol while on duty. All but one can appeal the decision, that one was new and on probationary status and was fire immediately. Six others will be suspended for knowing about the incident but not reporting it.
The incident occured at a restaurant in February but officials did not learn of it until it was reported on a website where employees can report incidents to TSA leaders.
"TSA holds all of its employees to the highest professional and ethical standards and has zero tolerance for misconduct in the workplace," said Nico Melendez, an agency spokesman. "TSA's decision to remove the individuals involved in the misconduct affirms our strong commitment to the highest standards of conduct and accountability."
The agency charged with making sure aviation in America is safe, the TSA, said id does not know if anyone has obtained an attorney yet.
