Ocala, Fla. –

A mother attempting to rob a Wal-Mart store escaped by leaving her baby behind according to Ocala police. They say Allison Niemeyer and her sister, Laura, were at the Wal-Mart store on Silver Springs Blvd attempting to get away with stolen merchandise when the store’s loss prevention officer attempted to store the duo.

According to the police report, the due were inside the store stuffing merchandise inside Allison’s baby diaper bag. When attempting to leave the store, the loss prevention officer attempted to stop both of them by asking them to stop, then physically grabbed both of them.

Allison managed to break free and made a run for it, leaving behind her baby. Shortly thereafter so did her sister Laura, who also left behind the baby. Both made their getaway by being picked up in a blue Ford Aerostar van.

Wal-Mart has recovered everything the two were attempting to steal, a total of $57.12 worth of merchandise, including a bathing suit, a men’s white undershirt, and four women’s shirts.

The child has been turned over to DCF agents.

Both sisters apparently have a considerable criminal background, including writing back checks and theft. Allison was on house arrest until 2012 for a past armed robbery.
