The Olympics Begin; First Medal Awarded, Tell US What You Think About The Opening Ceremony?

London spent an estimated $14 billion on the Olympics, and kicked off the event last night at the new Olympic Stadium in East London.

There has been much praise, and yet there seems to be an unspoken tide of "let-down". Creative director Danny Boyle said before it began that this show will have a lot of emotions, and booms, but will not compete with Beijing.

Stephan Guide of Germany says "it lacked grandness and the awe effect".

Linda Hollten of Liverpool England says "it was magnificent, so moving".
