Washington, D.C. -
President Obama quietly signed an Executive order allowing clandestine operation by U.S. assets in Syria to support rebel forces. The order helps support the opposition without the fear of providing rebels with weapons wondering what they will do with them afterwards and if they would be used against the U.S. or by terrorist.
The order does not permit U.S. military forces, but does allow for the CIA and para-military operations commissioned by the U.S. to take an active role in tactical and strategic operations for the Syria rebels.
Other types of assistance to be provided by the U.S. include communications, logistics and medical supplies.
