Lufthansa Plane Hits United Express Plane At Dulles

A Lufthansa airplane, flight 417, clipped a United Express plane, flight 3912, at Dulles International Airport last Friday, striking the regional plane's tail with its own wing while taxiing for departure to Frankfurt.
The United Express regional plane was operated by Pinnacle Airlines and had 68 passenger on board at the time and had just arrived from Pittsburgh.
No injuries were reported on either aircraft. The Lufthansa plane was reportedly only moving a few miles an hour when the incident happened.
The NTSB, FAA and each airline are investigating the incident.
Incidents of wing/tail strikes have been in the news recently with Air France A380 clipping the tail of a Delta Connection/Comair Bombardier CRJ-700 last year April at the John F. Kennedy Airport, and when a Delta 767 clipped the tail of a sister flight, a Delta Connection/Atlantic Southeast Bombardier CRJ-900 last year July at the Boston-Logan Airport.
