Group of Republican Congressmen Caught Skinny Dipping And Drinking In The Sea Of Galilee
Jerusalem, Israel -
A group of republicans have been scolded by House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va) for drinking on a trip to Israel and skinny dipping in the Sea of Galilee while on a congressional fact-finding mission causing the FBI to investigate the incident. Several senior GOP staffers also participated.
In all, more than 30 are known to have been involved in the incident last August in what some are calling a politically motivated and timed release of information about the incident just before the upcoming general election.
According to the report, several republican lawmakers and senior republican staff aids were on a fact finding trip to Israel related to Mid-East relations and policies with Israel when several disrobed to just underwear, or a bathing suit, after dinner and began swimming in the Sea of Galilee, which is in Israel, and were drinking alcohol. That's when some, including republican congressman Kevin Yoder (R-Kan) stripped completely and jumped into the water.
Other congressional members who have been identified so far include Rep. Steve Southerland (R-Fla.) and his daughter; Rep. Tom Reed (R-N.Y.) and his wife; and Reps. Ben Quayle (R-Ariz.), Jeff Denham (R-Calif.) and Michael Grimm (R-N.Y.).
Also present were some family members who also indulged into the fun.
Cantor's office has confirmed the incident and there were reportedly more than a dozen eye witnesses who also told other news outlets of the incident.
Yoder has since apologized for his actions calling them "brief", while some have said this has been politically "overblown".
