Fort Lauderdale, Fla. -

Alexandria Sladon-Marler has been granted $50,000 bail by Broward Circuit Judge John “Jay” Hurley after a half hour hearing in his courtroom. 33-year-old Sladon-Marler is accused of leaving her newborn child in a dumpster to die near where she lived, at the Fort Lauderdale Beach Palace Hotel and Suites on North Ocean Boulevard.

During the hearing, Judge Hurley mentioned previous petty crimes for which he has seen her in his courtroom, and noted he is concerned she has mental disabilities. he also prevented her from talking several times saying she must remain silent for her own benefit and not make any statements about the charges against her until she consults with attorneys.

She remains locked up in the Broward County Jail and so far her aunt in Fort Lauderdale and her family in Ocala have not posted bond for her.
