The American Beverage Association, which represents Coca-Cola Co., PepsiCo Inc., and Dr. Pepper Snapple Group Inc., has announced that its members will begin distributing new vending machines that will display the calorie count for each sod or beverage drink before you make your purchase.

In an effort to stop more regulation like the one put in place recently in New York City that prohibits the sale of soda over 16 ounces, the new machine is hoped to help consumers make better drink choices and will display the message suggesting lower-calorie drinks.

They are set to introduce in Chicago and San Antonio municipal buildings in 2013 before rolling out nationally.
