Some Airports To Reopen Today After Hurricane Sandy

Following Hurricane Sandy passing over the mid-Atlantic and northeast states, some airports are planning to reopen today.

Washington-Dulles and Reagan National are planning to reopen this afternoon.

Newark will open tomorow moring at 7am and John F Kennedy will open at 12:00pm.  New York's Laguardia airport will remain closed at least until Thursday while parts of the runways and taxiways remain flooded.

So far 6,000 flights have been cancelled today alone, 16,000 total since Sunday evening.

Airports along the east coast were nearly empty as travelers heard about flight cancellations and delays.

Orlando, Tampa, Charlotte, Norfolk, Fort Lauderdale and Jacksonville airports are all reporting nearly empty terminals.
