Orlando and The State of Florida Expected To Set New Records On Tourist Visitors

Florida's tourism industry has been booming with record levels of tourist hitting the Sunshine State for 2012. According to the state tourism agency, Visit Florida, 21.9 million visitors came to Florida in the third quarter of 2012, an increase of 3.5% over last year, which is typically the slow season.

Orlando saw the biggest increase statewide, with a nearly 7% jump, with the biggest gains coming from Canada and Brazil, both of which tend to spend a lot while visiting.

Hotel occupancy was up 1.7% and room rates were also up over 3%, meaning the industry is strong as they are able to raise rates while the vacancy rate is decreasing.
