Washington, D.C. –
President Obama is asking for one more vote, this time to help decide which Thanksgiving turkey will be pardoned.
The vote is between “Cobbler” and Gobbler” and White House officials say they are definitely very different birds.
The White House reports that “Cobbler craves cranberries, is known for his strut and enjoys the musical stylings of Carly Simon. Gobbler, a patient but proud bird, loves to nibble on corn and enjoys any music with a fiddle.”
According to White House historians, a Thanksgiving turkey has been pardoned since sometime in the 1800’s and in 1947 presidents began reviewing the turkey receiving ceremonies held at the White House.
The vote decides which turkey gets top billing, but both will be sent to George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens to live out the rest of their days in a custom-made enclosure.
