Here are the most annoying complaints your fellow Floridian drivers have against you and your bad driving habits, and we found you’re not nearly as good as you think you are. We surveyed 1,004 adults across Florida in October 2013 and discovered the overwhelming majority of complaints about Florida drivers were one of the eight listed below…
-Cars that pull out in front of you and into your lane at the last minute and then go slow forcing you to hit your brakes.
-Cars that change lanes in front of you with little space and don’t use a blinker.
-Drivers who slow down in their lane to wait for traffic to clear so they can make a turn across all lanes.
-Slow drivers in the left lane.
-Drivers who fail to yield the right-of-way.
-Drivers who are texting while driving.
-Drivers who don’t use turn signals.
-Drivers who take up more than 1 parking spot or park too close to your door yet have lots of space on the other side of their car.
Interestingly, 8 out of 10 drivers said they were a good or great driver, yet only 2 out of 10 have not had a ticket or accident within the last 5 years.
7 out of 10 drivers said they pay attention to the road, but 8 out of 10 of those same drivers admit to doing other things while driving such as texting, putting on makeup, getting dressed, combing hair, eating, shaving, watching videos or movies, and other even more distracting activities.
We also asked several “rules of the road” questions, and a whopping 83% got this wrong: Who has the right away; a car turning right onto a road or a car making a U-turn at the same intersection or cross the street? The answer is u-turning traffic has the right-of-way. Traffic already on the road has the right-of-way before traffic wanting to enter the road.
So if you are one of the estimated 2.2 million Floridians expected to the driver during the Thanksgiving holiday, consider becoming a better driver and less of a possible statistic by not doing the things your fellows are complaining about.
