On Tuesday Microsoft announced that Satya Nadella will be the companies new Chief Executive Officer replacing Steve Ballmer who will retire later this year.

Nadella is no stranger to the software giant having joined the company in 1992. He is currently the president of Server and Tools Business.

One of Nadella’s biggest accomplishments is the creation of the Microsoft’s cloud-based operating system “Azure”. The operating system is the backbone of Microsoft products such as Bing, Skype, and the Xbox live network.

In a statement released by Nadella, he said, “Microsoft is one of those rare companies to have truly revolutionized the world through technology, and I couldn’t be more honored to have been chosen to lead the company,”

The 46-year-old India native will have some powerful help in his transition to CEO. Former CEO and company found Bill Gates has said that he will be Nadella’s technology adviser.

Nadella will receive $1.2 million a year along with a maximum annual cash bonus of three times that and a stock award of $13.2 million for next fiscal year.

Nadella will be working hard for his salary as tries tide for the 39-year-old company. Microsoft who is considered a pioneer fueling the computer revolution has faltered under Ballmer’s reign failing to gain entry into the mobile phone market.

Immediately after his announcement, Nadella said that his priority would be leading Microsoft in Mobile and Cloud domains.
