New Smyrna Beach, Fla.
A 14-year-old boy is recovering after being bitten by a shark off Volusia County on Sunday.
According to Volusia County Beach Safety officials, the teen was floating on the surfboard when a shark bit him on his left leg. The incident happened near the New Smyrna Beach Jetty.
The teen had a bit mark that was approximately 4 inches in diameter. He was treated at the scene for minor cuts and he refused any additional treatment.
It is unknown what type of shark it was as the teen didn’t see it.
Sunday’s bite is the 10th bite by a shark in Volusia County this year.
