Police in Southern California has identified two suspects who attacked a holiday office party killing 14 people and wounding 17 others on Wednesday before being killed themselves.
San Bernardino Police released a statement late Wednesday night identifying the shooters as Syed Rizwan Farook, 28, and Tashfeen Malik, 27. Police believe that the two were in a relationship but it’s unclear if they were married or engaged.
A third suspect has been identified and detailed. Police have not released that person’s name.
According to police, Farook was an environmental specialist at the San Bernardino County public health department. He had been attending a holiday party being held at the conference room in the Inland Regional Center. Farook left the party after some sort of dispute.
Farook and Malik returned to the party wearing assault-style clothing and opened fire in the party. The couple fled and later died after a confrontation with offices in front of a nearby home.
A third person was seen running from the scene and had been detained. Police say at this time that they believe that Farook and Malik were the only shooters.
At this time it is unclear what the dispute was that lead to Farook storming out of the party and what exactly prompted him to return in such a violent fashion.
