Police in Juneau, Alaska are investigating the death of their newly elected mayor whose body was discovered Monday afternoon.
Stephen “Greg” Fisk’s body was discovered by his adult son who inside his home off Kennedy Street then called 911. Paramedics arrived and declared the 70-year-old dead at the scene.
Juneau Police have said that the State Medical Examiners office has authorized an autopsy. The results of the autopsy could take up to several days to release.
District 1 Assembly member and deputy Mayor Mary Becker announced that she would be acting mayor for the time being.
Fisk was a fisheries consultant who had just been elected to mayor and was set to end his term in 2018.
