Police in Kentucky arrested a man on Monday accused of breaking into a home and stabbing a 6-year-old boy to death.
Police in Versailles arrested Ronald Exantus, 32, of Indianapolis and charged him with murder and first-degree burglary. He has since pleaded not guilty then had bond set at $1 million by a district court judge.
Exantus is accused of breaking into the home just before dawn on Monday then taking a large kitchen knife and stabbing Logan Tipton in the head. Police say that Exantus was wondering around the residence before entering the house and going upstairs to stab the child.
Additionally, two girls in the home were injured in the attack but did not sustain any life-threatening injuries.
The child’s father held Exantus till police arrived.
The Tipton family told investigators that they had never seen Exantus before.
A public defender representing Exantus discussed with a judge her concern regarding Exantus mental state. The public defender said that Exantus was unresponsive as she asked questions regarding his background and family. Exantus was unable to say what his occupation was or why he was in town.
