A Volusia County Sheriff deputy shot and killed a man following a dispute over the cab fare in Deltona on Monday night.
According to the sheriff’s office, a cab driver called them after having a dispute with Robert Teter, 39, over cab fare. The driver told deputies that when Teter’s credit card didn’t work he went inside the home.
When deputies arrived on scene they knocked on Teter’s door who responded by pointing a gun at them. Deputies ordered Teter to drop his gun and when he refused that is when the deputy fired his weapon three times.
Teter was airlifted to a hospital where he died from his injuries.
The deputy involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave which is standard procedure. The name of the deputy has not been released.
