A Flagler County Sheriff deputy is being called a hero after rescuing a woman who has trapped her in the car for over an hour underwater.
Brandy Demarco 21, crashed her car while traveling on County Road 80 in Bunnell early Thursday morning. Demarco told deputies that she had swerved to avoid a deer. She lost control of her vehicle overturning into a water-filled 6-foot ditch.
Demarco was trapped inside her vehicle for 45 minutes before deputies arrived.
Deputy Aaron Beausoleil, 24, arrived on the scene and could hear Demarco screaming for help but couldn’t see her.
Beausoleil used his baton to smash a window, and with the help of another deputy, they were able to pull Demarco out of her vehicle.
Demarco suffered minor injuries and declined medical treatment.
