An Amtrak train derailed in Southwestern Kansas early Monday morning injuring over two-dozen people.
The Southwest Chief was traveling from Los Angeles to Chicago carrying 128 passengers and 14 crewmembers. According to Amtrak, the train consisted of two locomotives and nine cars.
The train derailed about 20 miles west of Dodge City, Kansas shortly after midnight.
None of the injured sustained life-threatening injuries. The injured were taken to Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City and St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
The passengers who were not injured were taken to a recreational center in Cimarron where they were being given alternate transportation to their final destinations.
At this time it is unclear what caused the derailment.
