Brussels, Belgium

At least 13 people are dead after explosives set off a Brussels airport and train station on Tuesday.

The attack happened at  Zaventem Airport near the American Airlines desk in the departures hall. Within one hour of the first attack, another explosion occurred at the Maelbeek metro station near the U.S. Embassy and European Union headquarters.

Officials have closed the airport canceling all flights in and out of the Brussels Airport. All public transport including the Eurostar trains has been withdrawn on Tuesday as well.

In response to the explosions, the Belgium Prime Minister Charles Michel has raised the countries threat level to its highest level.

So far there are reports of 13 people dead with almost three dozen injured.

Witnesses are reporting that shots also fired and that the suspects were shouting in Arabic right before the two explosions. This explosion is leading to speculation that the two blasts were possibly suicide attacks.

At this time no group has taken responsibility for the attack.
