St Petersburg, Fla.
Three teenager girls were found dead inside a stolen car that was driven into a pond early Thursday.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s office, the driver of the vehicle missed a sharp turn near a cemetery in St. Petersburg. The vehicle had been driving without headlights after a deputy attempted to stop it.
The girls have been identified as Laniya Miller, 15, Ashaunti Butler, 15, and Dominique Battle, 16.
All three of the girls had criminal histories that included grand theft auto.
The owner of the car said that he had been given the girls a ride when he got out of his vehicle to go into Walmart. This is when the girls took off in the vehicle.
Deputies have not been able to determine who was driving at the time.
Investigators say that the vehicle was found within 15 feet of water.
