A Cocoa Police officer is recovering after his foot was run over by a teenager he was trying to pull over during an attempted traffic stop late Thursday night.
According to investigators, the 16-year-old suspect had stolen a PT Cruiser. Officer Chris Jones had spotted the car near the intersection of Fiske Boulevard and Grove Street.
Jones attempted to stop the suspect at about 9:30 p.m. when the teen ran over the officer’s foot while fleeing the scene.
The teen crashed into a vehicle injuring that driver before taking off on foot. He has not been seen since.
Police have not identified the teen suspect but have said that he is on probation for burglary and that he does not have a valid license.
Jones was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
