Severe weather in Oklahoma on Wednesday spawned several tornadoes leaving many buildings damaged and several injured.
The National Weather Service has confirmed that one tornado touched down multiple times in Tulsa and Owasso. The weather service is still researching the claims that various other tornadoes struck the area.
The city of Tulsa reported that several people were injured and taken to nearby hospitals. At least one person is said to be in critical condition while several were listed in serious condition.
Police and fire crews in Tulsa spent the night canvassing the city searching through closed roads. The Streets and Water Departments are working on clearing road debris.
The Tulsa Fire Department has reported that the most severe damage was within a one square mile residential area. At least one home was destroyed.
Public Service Company of Oklahoma, the utility provider for the area reported that several thousand customers were without power.
The same storm system generated severe weather in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi.
