Fort Myers, Fla.

Two people are dead and over a dozen are injured after a shooting occurred at a nightclub early Monday morning in South Florida.

The shooting occurred in the parking lot of Club Blu at around 12:30 a.m. The club was hosting a themed “swimsuit glow party” teen night that allowed people between the ages of 12 to 17 were allowed to attend.

According to the Lee County Sheriff, the club was closing down with teens leaving when then shooting occurred in the parking lot.

Lee Memorial Hospital reports that they were treating people as young as 12 and as old as 27. The majority of the shooting victims were treated and released. One person died at the hospital while four people were admitted.

Sheriff deputies say at this time there is no known motive. Deputies have detained three suspects but no charges have been filed and the names of the suspects have not been released.

Club Blu posted a notice on Facebook saying, “We are deeply sorry for all involved. We tried to give the teens WHAT WE THOUGHT WAS A SAFE PLACE TO HAVE A GOOD TIME. Ages 12-17. There was armed security as well as full security, inside and out. As the club was closing and parents were picking their children up…..that’s when all this took place. There was nothing more we could have done as you see it was not kids at the party that did this despicable act. Our condolences to all parties involved.”

The shooting at Club Blu comes several weeks after the deadly massacre at Club Pulse in Orlando where 50 people including the suspect were killed in an armed attack.
