Police in Pittsburg was forced to bring to bring SWAT to a home where a man pulled a gun on a woman and then tried to flush a 6-week-old child down the toilet.
According to investigators, the man and woman were arguing at home at around 12:30 a.m. in the house in the neighborhood of Mount Washington.
The man pulled out a gun and then grabbed a 6-week-old child and tried to flush the child down the toilet.
The woman was able to get the child and fled the home safely. Paramedics did check out the pair, and both appeared to be okay. The child was taken to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburg as a precaution.
Pittsburg police responded to the home, but the man refused to leave. SWAT called to the house where a standoff occurred.
Pittsburg Police Safety Spokesperson said that negotiators with help from neighbors were able to end the siege safely. After two hours the man surrendered to police and was taken to the Allegheny County Jail.
Police have not released any names. It is also unclear what charges the man will face.
