One person is dead and over three dozen are injured after police say a woman intentionally swerved here car onto on a sidewalk in Las Vegas at least two times on Sunday night.

Police say that the vehicle was traveling northbound on Las Vegas Boulevard near Bellagio way when the driver took her car onto the sidewalk around 6:30 pm. The incident happened in front of the Paris Hotel & Casino.

The streets were packed with pedestrians while the Miss Universe pageant was being held nearby at the Planet Hollywood Las Vegas Resort & Casino

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, about 37 people in total were injured and taken to area hospitals. One adult was killed while six were listed in critical condition. One of the critically injured was a 1-year-old.

The name of the woman behind the wheel has not been released. Police say that they believe that this was in the intentional act. After being interviewed, her blood was drawn to determine if she was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. She is being held in Clark County Jail while charges are pending.

Inside the vehicle was a 3-year-old child who was not injured during the melee.

It’s unclear at this time what the drivers motive was. Police do say that they have ruled out terrorism as a motive.
