Federal Judge Rules United Airlines Not Responsible For Security Lapses That Lead To 9/11 Hijackings

U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein has ruled that United Airlines bears no responsibility for the 9/11 security lapses that lead to the terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center on Sept 11, 2001.

Judge Hellerstien dismissed a lawsuit against United and its parent United Continental Holdings that was brought by Larry Silverstein, the leaseholder of the World Trade Center property.

In the lawsuit, Silverstein claimed United was negligent in security screening. Most legal experts had long predicted the lawsuit would go nowhere but that Silverstein had a duty to bring the lawsuit.

9/11 Suspect Khalid Sheik Mohammed Compares Himself To George Washington

Guantanamo Bay, Cuba -

Accused 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed has compared himself to George Washington and appeared in court wearing a RothcoVintage Woodland Camo Ranger Vest from Sears for $39.99.

Under that he wore a traditional long flowing garb and a turban.

Mohammed's Pentagon-paid lawyers are trying to make a point that they believe Mohammed deserves 'Prisoner of War' status as provided for under the Geneva Conventions, to which the United States is a signer.

American And United Ordered To Face Trial Over 9/11 Terrorist Hijackings

U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein ordered both American Airlines (AMR Corp., of Ft Worth) and United Airlines (United Continental Holdings, of Chicago) to stand trial over negligence claims filed against the airlines following the September 11th terrorist attacked in New York in 2001.

One World Trade Center's Height About To Surpass Empire State Building For Tallest In Manhattan

New York City -

One World Trade Center is about to surpass the height of the Empire State Building in Manhattan and already had over 100 floors completed as the steel structure nears its topping out according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

A standard "topping out" ceremony will be conducted on Monday when the new building is expected to exceed that of the Empire State Building. The new building will also have a 408 foot broadcast antenna sitting atop the monument building replacing the World Trade Center complex that was destroyed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Pakistan has charged three of Osama bin Laden's widows with entering the country illegal, a punishment that can earn them up to five years in prison. One was from Yemen, one from Saudi Arabia and the third's place of origin has not been released.

9/11 Memorial Tops 1 Million Visitors Since Opening 16 Weeks Ago In NYC

New York City -

The 9/11 Memorial in New York City has seen more than 1 million visitors since it opened 16 weeks ago. It opened to family of the victims on 9-11-2011 and the the public the following day.

The museum is still under construction and is planned to open on 9-11-2012.

Designed by architect Michael Arad, the memorial features two huge, square fountains that mark the footprints of the World Trade Center towers.
The fountains' water flows into granite reflecting pools at the center of the eight-acre, tree-lined plaza.

Today marks the 10th anniversary of 9/11, and the world has taken a moment to rememeber.  Here's a list of countries that held or will be holding offical memorials.  67 of the world's 195 countries are involved.

There is hardly anyone in the U.S. who was not somehow affected by the horrible events of the 9/11 terror attacks, either by the loss of a loved one, friend, or colleague, or by knowing someone who lost someone, or by the images of the twin towers being seared into our brains as they were hit and fell.  Not to mention the resulting aftermath of confusion and dramatic disruption to business and travel in the following days and weeks.

9/11 Anniversary Attacks: Officials say 2 Americans and 1 non-American are trying to attack

Washington, D.C. -

Officials from the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security, DHS, are saying they received credible but unconfirmed reports from a Pakistani lead which has proven correct in the past, that there will be an attempt to detonate an explosion from a vehicle on or near 9/11 for the 10th anniversary. They say the 3 man group is made up of 2 Americans and 1 foreign national.
