Federal Judge Rules United Airlines Not Responsible For Security Lapses That Lead To 9/11 Hijackings
U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein has ruled that United Airlines bears no responsibility for the 9/11 security lapses that lead to the terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center on Sept 11, 2001.
Judge Hellerstien dismissed a lawsuit against United and its parent United Continental Holdings that was brought by Larry Silverstein, the leaseholder of the World Trade Center property.
In the lawsuit, Silverstein claimed United was negligent in security screening. Most legal experts had long predicted the lawsuit would go nowhere but that Silverstein had a duty to bring the lawsuit.
