Airline Baggage Handler Arrested For Stealing $20,000 From Federal Reserve Shipment

Airline baggage handler Alex Price, (25), has been arrested for allegedly stealing $20,000 from a federal reserve shipment of new cash.

The money was discovered missing by the armored truck service while being unloaded from the plane to the truck. One of the packages had been opened and after counting, $20,000 in new $100 bills were missing.

According to the FBI, they interviewed several people who might have had access to the shipment that was going from the federal reserve office in Dallas to the East Rutherford, NJ federal reserve bank.

Air France Pilot Asks Passengers For Gas Money After Plane Is Stranded In Damascus

The pilot of an Air France flight recently had to ask his passengers for money to buy jet fuel while the plane sat on the ground in Damascus, Syria.

The flight left France bound for Beirut Lebanon but had to divert and attempted to make it to Amman Jordan but didn't have enough fuel, so the plane landed in Damascus.

Due to the tension between France and Syria, and the ongoing civil war, airport officials in Damascus could not accept an airline credit card for fuel and the pilot was forced to ask passenger how much cash each of them had.

NORAD Scrambles Military Jets to Escort Civilian Flight to NYC Over a "Disturbance"

NORAD scrambled jets this afternoon and escorted American Airlines Flight 34 to New York City for an undisclosed "disturbance". Reports coming out do not indicate a terror threat but officials are not taking any chances.

The incident happened on a flight from Los Angles to New York when three passengers refused to come out of the bathroom. Military jets intercepted the flight about 100 miles from NYC, and the passengers remained in the bathroom while the plane landed. The FBI also responded to the scene at the airport.

Gulf Air flight GF270 Slides Off Runway in Kochi India with 143 On Board

Gulf Air flight 270 has slid off the runway while landing at Kochi airport in India on Monday morning local time in windy and heavy rains.

The flight originated in Bahrain and was carrying 137 passengers and six crew members. One passenger was admitted to a local hospital while others were released after being given first aid at the scene.

Kochi is located at the very southernmost portion of India along the western coast.

As Hurricane Irene continues to make front page news and spirals closer to the densely populated northeast US, airports have begun preparations to close once the storm is close enough.

While Florida airports readily handle such advance preparations almost as routine business, it is unusual for northeast airports and it has left many managers and emergency officials scrambling to figure it out, calling it on the job training.

Miami, Orlando, are experiencing slight delays of 15 mins due to localized weather related to Hurricane Irene.

DC, Newark, JFK, LaGuardia ar experiencing significant departure delays of over an hour, and all inbound flights have been held at the origin due to thunderstorms in the area, unrelated to Hurricane Irene.
