Archeologist Still Struggle To Decode Tablet With Oldest Known Written Language

Oxford University academics and other archeologist are still struggling to decode what is believed to be the worlds oldest known written language scribed onto a clay tablet that is believed to have come from the southwestern area of present day Iran.

Researchers have been digitizing in super high quality the proto-Elamite tablet in 76 different photographic lights to put together a high quality image they intend to publish hoping the public will help.

World's Oldest Pottery Confirmed Found In Chinese Cave

Chinese scientist Wu Xiaohong, a professor of archaeology and museology at Peking University, along with American scientist have confirmed from testing that a piece of pottery found in a cave in China that dates back 20,000. The shard was discovered in the Xianrendog cave in China's Jiangxi provine, which was excavated in the 1960s and the 1990s.

Archeologist Discover 30,000 Roman Coins Near Bath Site

More than 30,000 Roman silver coins dating back to 270AD have been discovered near the site of ancient Roman baths say archeologist working on the dig site.

The coins were found about 450 feet from the site of the historic Roman Baths and have now been sent to the British Museum where conservators will sort through them and work to preserve them. Many were stuck together. The collection will be sent back to an Italian museum once they are cleaned and cataloged.

It is believed this is the fifth largest Roman coin discovery to date.

Saudi Arabia Discovers 9,000 year old Buried Settlement

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia -

With the discovery of a buried settlement dating back 9,000 years, some officials say it proves domestication of animals goes farther back than the commonly accepted 5,500 years ago.

Among the site's remains were mummified skeletons, arrowheads, scrapers, grain grinders, tools for spinning and weaving, and other tools that are evidence of a civilization that is skilled in handicrafts. Remains of animals consistent with domestication were found in and around human settlement infrastructure as well.
