iPhone 4 Explodes On Board Australian Airlines Flight to Sydney

An iPhone 4 exploded while on board an Australian Airlines regional flight from Lismore to Sydney. The incident happened while the airplane was making preparations for landing.

The iPhone's owner reported that his phone was getting very hot and started glowing red just prior to the incident and called a flight attendant for help who reportedly secured the iPhone and extinguished the resulting fire.

iPhones exploding are not a new phenomenon, in fact there have been several reported and documented cases in the past. All have been attributed to the battery overheating.

Qantas Airways Shuts Down Over Labor Union Disputes

In an unprecedented move, Qantas Airways has shut down all flights for both international and domestic routes because of a labor dispute. Qantas released a statement that said, "all employees involved in industrial action would be locked out from Monday evening and flights grounded from 0600 GMT on Saturday."

The airline has endured a series of strikes that have cost the airline $16 million a week involving baggage handlers, engineers and pilots.

Australian Shark Attack Kills American from Texas

A 32 year old Texas man was diving at Rottnest Island off of Australia's western coast when he was attacked by a great white shark, according to police Sgt. Greg True.

He was diving with two friends in the water at the time of the attack. His nearby friends noticed a lot of air bubbles then a plume of blood rise to the surface. They were able to get him to shore but he died of his injures shortly after.

Experts say his injuries and the bite pattern are consistent with a great white attack.

This attack is the second one in less than two weeks near Perth, Australia.

Body of Dead Oil Worker Found at Sea By Mexican Navy, Australian Reportedly named Aaron Wesley Howling

Following an evacuation from the Trinity II platform, an floating oil drilling rig, in which 7 were rescued and 3 were missing, 2 have since been found dead, and now the body of what is believed to be the third worker, an Australian reportedly named Aaron Wesley Howling has been pulled from the water about 62 miles (100 km) from the port city of Campeche.

The workers were contract workers from a company called Geokinetics that were on the Trinity II platform, a floating oil drilling rig on contract to Pemex, the Mexican state owned petroleum company.
