Barefoot Bandit Colton Harris-Moore Sentenced to 7 Years In Prison, Crimes Include Airplane Theft

The barefoot bandit as he was named, Colton Harris-Moore, was sentenced to seven years in state prison for his crime spree that went from Washington State to the Bahamas where he was eventually caught. He also pleaded guilty to federal crimes and will be sentenced for those early next year and will serve the to sentences concurrently.

Central Florida and Orlando Weather Begins To Deteriorate As Hurricane Irene Gets Closer

Weather conditions in Orlando, Daytona, and Melbourne have begun to deteriorate as Hurricane Irene draws closer, now over the northern Bahamas.

Rain Bands have entered the Central Florida area with moments of sun and moments of torrential downpour alternating back and forth. Wind gusts in Orlando have reached 20mph, however, sustained winds are still only 8mph.

Irene is a massive storm in terms of its width, with the smallest part of the storm over 200 miles wide east to west. North to south, Irene stretches over 400 miles.

Hurricane Irene Hits Bahamas, Airports Closed, Speeds Up

Hotels report being sold out in the Bahamas as some tourists get stuck with airports closing and residents staying in hotels rather than at home, feeling safer there.  Top sustained winds have reached 120mph with wind gusts reaching 155mph.  Irene is currently crossing over the Turks and Caicos Islands and is fast appraoching the Bahamas moving NW at 12 mph.

The main airport in the Bahamas closed today at 3pm.
