Letter To President Obama Contained Suspicious Substance Says Secret Service

Washington, D.C. -

The Secret Service has intercepted a letter that was addressed to President Barack Obama yesterday that contained a yet to be identified "suspicious substance" according to a press spokesperson at the agency.

The letter is being moved to a secure location where it will be investigated.

The area in which the letter was found (a mail screening center) is being searched to ensure no dangerous substances contaminated the area and the worker who made the discovery has undergone decontamination as a safety precaution.

Obama Hints At A Military Option Towards Iran

Jerusalem, Israel -

President Obama spoke on Israeli TV today about his upcoming trip to Israel and about the continued Iranian problem. In remarks, Obama said all options are on the table if diplomatic efforts fail.

The U.S., Russia, Germany, the E.U. and the U.N. have been engaged in a nuclear negotiation standoff with Iran for several years.

Iran claims it is developing peaceful nuclear energy technology but has refused to allow international inspectors into its country, despite other nuclear powers allowing such inspections as part of their international agreements.

President Obama's Native American Adopted Father Dies

President Obama's adopted Native American father has died. Hartford Black Eagle was 78, and died in his sleep at his home in Lodge Grass, Mont.

Obama visited the Crow Nation Indian Reservation during his 2008 presidential campaign and was adopted by Hartford and Mary Black Eagle during a ceremony in which he was given the name 'Barack Black Eagle'.

President Obama was the first presidential candidate to visit the Crow Nation.

President Obama Makes A Stop At Rollins College In Winter Park

President Obama made a campaign stop today at Rollins College in Winter Park where he talked about his vision for the future with a packed house, estimated at 2,400 by the fire inspector.

After arriving at the Harold and Ted Alfond Sports Center and taking the stage just after 2:58pm, Obama briefly praised the U.S. Olympic athletes and joked that he could never stand on such a narrow balance beam and then jump and flip.

First Lady Michelle Obama Speaks At UCF Campus In Orlando; Campaigns For Her Husband

First Lady Michelle Obama spoke at UCF today. This is the second stop in Florida today as the First Lady campaigns for her husband, President Barack Obama.

This event was in part to say thanks for all the grass-root organizations and their efforts and a call to volunteers to help with voter registration. During her speech the First Lady discussed health care, education, and tax breaks for the middle class.

President Obama Speaks To NALEO Conference In Orlando About Immigration

President Obama arrived in Orlando and spoke at the annual conference of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, NALEO, at Disney World's Contemporary Resort today.

Immigration is a hot topic at the conference with the presumptive republican nominee, Mitt Romney, speaking at the same audience yesterday when he blasted Obama's immigration and deportation policy changes by calling them temporary. Romney himself gave no specific details of his own plan but did say he had one and remained vague.

F-16 Military Jet Intercepts Small Plane For Violating Restricted Airspace Over LA During Obama Visit

Los Angeles, CA -

An F-16 fighter jet intercepted a small plane after it strayed into restricted airspace over Los Angeles while President Barack Obama was in town for a fund raising event.

The airplane in question was a small single-engine Cessna 117 and it was forced to land around 5pm yesterday according to the North American Aerospace Defense Command. The pilot reportedly failed to alter course after several warning were made over the radio as well.

Obama Threatens To Veto Student Loan Bill; OMB Calls The Bill Politically Motivated

President Barack Obama has threatened to veto a bill by republicans that keeps the federal student loan rate lower, something that was about to go up, nearly doubling from 3.4% to 6%. Both Obama and republicans had recently said they need to act to keep the rate from going up.

The OMB has called the bill "politically motivated" and said the republicans were not at all "serious" about lowering the federal student loan rate, going on to say this is political "grand-standing" so they can say they tried to lower the federal student loan rate but Obama blocked it.
