BMW Issues Recall Of 500,000 Cars Due To Faulty Battery Cable Which Can Cause Accidents

BMW has issued a recall of 500,000 vehicles after discovering a faulty battery cable that can lead to an accident, with at least one confirmed case so far.

The recall covers 3 Series sedans, wagons, convertibles and coupes from the 2007 through 2011 model years, 1 Series coupes and convertibles from the 2008 through 2012 model years and the Z4 from 2009 through 2011.

In those vehicles, the battery is located in the trunk and the connections are covered in tin which can degrade over time causing the cable to become disconnected resulting in the car stalling while driving.

The Consumer Reports 2012 Annual Auto Reliability Survey has been released and there were some surprising results.

Scion leads the pack at number 1 along with Toyota and Lexus brands rounding out the top 3, and the next six on the list are held by Japanese auto manufacturers.

BMW Sued By San Francisco Man Who Claimed He Suffered Erection For 2 Years After Riding Motorcycle

Henry Wolf is suing BMW North America and Corbin-Pacific, Inc. and is claiming he suffered a 2 year erection, called priapism (a long lasting erection) after he rode a BMW motorcycle around San Francisco in May of 2010 for four hours.

In his lawsuit he specifically claimed that the 1993 BMW motorcycle was designed with a "ridged seat" which caused his unfortunate condition says his attorney, Vernon Bradley. The seat was made by Corbin-Pacific Inc.

BMW is now exporting rice from Argentina due to quirky deals made to get around tight trade laws the government has put in place, requiring nearly everything imported to get pre-approval first. As a result, the U.S. is defending BMW, a German car maker, at the World Trade Organization, WTO. So business as usual for BMW means exporting rice in order to get their cars into the country.

BMW Issues Recall Of 367,000 Cars Due To Faulty Battery Cable Causing Fires

BMW has said it is issuing a recall for 1.3 million cars, including 367,000 in the United States due to a fualty battery cable that could cause a fire even if the car was not on.

BMW 5 Series Sedans and Sport Wagons made between June of 2003 and March of 2010 are included in the recall as well as 6 Series Coupes and Convertibles made between September 2003 and July 2010.
