Disney 'Wonder' Cruise Ship Rescues Stranded Rafters Off Key West

Disney's cruise ship 'Wonder' spotted migrant rafters that had become distressed about 42 miles off the coast of Key West, in the Straits of Florida, and provided emergency services.

According to Disney spokesperson Rebecca Peddie, the rafters were given food, water and medical attention and turned over to the U.S. Coast Guard.

Their nationalities have not been made public yet.

The Coast Guard reported there were no injuries.

Carnival Corporation Refusing To Reimburse Government For Rescue

Carnival Corporation who has been plagued with multiple ship failures has indicated it will not reimburse the U.S. Government for the costs in rescuing its disabled ship in the Gulf of Mexico. This is in response to a letter from Senator Jay Rockefeller of Virginia asking that the cruise line pay back $780,000 the coast guard spent rescuing the ship.

FBI Investigating Death Aboard Royal Caribbean Ship

The FBI is classifying a death aboard a Royal Caribbean cruise ship as suspicious. Upon its return Monday agents boarded the Enchantment of the Seas at doc in Boston to investigate the death. The unidentified 62 year old woman was found dead in her cabin by her husband.

An autopsy is being conducted to determine the exact cause of death. The ship had concluded a seven night trip to Florida and the Bahamas.

Titanic First Class Menus Sell For $160,000 At Auction In Britain

London, U.K. -

The British auction firm Henry Aldridge and Son has said that two first class Titanic lunch menus were sold for over $160,000.

The first class lunch menu pictured below sold for $102,000 while the luncheon menu, pictured above, that was held in Belfast went for $57,000.

The menus belonged to Richard and Stanley May who were traveling to Cork for a weeklong fishing vacation and used the Titanic to get across the Irish Sea.

Federal Judge Dismisses Lawsuit In Costa Concordia Capsizing By Italian Businesses

Miami, Fla. -

U.S. District Judge Robin Rosenbaum has dismissed a lawsuit filed by Italian businesses seeking damages against Carnival Corp which is based in Miami, Florida.

Carnival Corp., the parent company to Costa Concordia and Carnival Cruise Lines, argued in court the lawsuit belongs in Italian jurisdiction because that is where the incident happened. Nearly, 1,000 Italian businesses are seeking to sue Carnival for the capsizing of the Costa Concordia on Jan 13 in which 32 people died.

Passenger Fell Overboard From Allure Of The Seas Cruise Ship, Coast Guard Searching

The Coast Guard is conductiong a search for a 21-year-old female from Bartlett, Tennessee who fell overboard from the cruise ship Allure Of The Seas. A passenger reported to crew members that someone possibly went overboard and the ship promptly began searching for the unknown passenger.

The incident happened about 47 miles off shore from Fort Lauderdale.

Allure Of The Seas is owned by Royal Caribbean and crews conducted searches of the entire ship while after alerting the U.S. Coast Guard.

Princess Cruise Lines Sued For Failing To Help Fisherman Adrift In Pacific Ocean, 2 Died As A Result

Miami, Fla. -

A lawsuit has been filed in Miami against Princess Cruise Lines for failing to render aid to another vessel adrift in the Pacific Ocean in which two fisherman eventually died before they were found again.

Relatives of one of the deceased, 16-year-old Fernando Osorio Rodriguez, and the sole survivor, 18-year-old Adrian Vazquez, have claimed that the ship passed them while they were adrift and stranded out in the Pacific Ocean while on their fishing trip out of Panama.

Costa Cruises Implements New Safety Measures Hoping To Not Repeat Concordia Disaster

Costa Cruises, owned by Carnival Crop of Miami Florida, rolled out a set of new rules hoping it will stop a repeat of its recent disaster in which the Costa Concordia partially sank on its side off the coast the Italian island Giglio in which 32 people died so far.

The new rules are designed to exceed international regulations and include the following:

Australian Billionaire Clive Palmer Building Second Titanic; To Sail From England To New York City

Australian billionaire Clive Palmer has announced he, along with his investment partners, are building the Titanic II and it will sail from Southampton to New York City along Titanic's original route.

Unlike past hopes of building another Titanic, this time it appears to be a done deal with financing completed and contracts having already been signed to build the ship with the state owned Chinese company CSC Jinling Shipyard along with up to three other sister ships.

Power Restored On Cruise Ship Azamara Quest After Engine Fire; Another Ship Owned By Royal Caribbean

Power has been restored to the cruise ship Azamara Quest after an engine fire left the ship adrift near Indoneasia. The Azamara Quest, as shown above in this 2008 picture, had 1,000 people on board, 600 of which were passengers. The ship is owned by Royal Caribbean, the same company that owns the Costa Concordia and Costa Allegra, both of which have had recent disasters as well.

Officials report no passengers were hurt but five crew members suffered smoke inhalation, one seriously.
