U.S. Banks Endure Weeklong Powerful Cyber Attacks

Nearly all of the major U.S. based banks have endured powerful cyber attacks over the last week, bring some to a standstill. Banks increasingly reply on their websites to communicate with customers and for customers to do many taks with their bank these days and that has made banks vulnerable.

Money is something nearly everyone hold dear and will panic over it they think it is in jeopardy, making the recent cyber attacks especially painful or banks.

Millions Of Websites Go Down After @Anonymous Own3r Launches DNS Attack

An estimated 52 million websites were down for much of the day today after someone using the twitter handle @Anonymous Onw3r launched a DNS attack at a Phoeniz Arizona data center, the world's largest.

The attack also affected any website whose DNS is registered with GoDaddy, based in Scottsdale Arizona, even if the site is actually hosted elsewhere.  Also down were GoDaddy's email servers and all MX servers.

The hacktivist group Anonymous has said they are not responsible for the attack, that it was the work of one member acting alone.

Homeland Security Says Natural Gas Piplines Under Attack Since December 2011

The Homeland Security's Industrial Control Systems Cyber Emergency Response Team, ICS-CERT, has issued a warning saying natural gas pipelines are under cyber attack and have been so since December 2011.

ICS-CERT, which is based in Idaho, said that several gas pipeline companies have been enduring a sustained attack on their networks by the same sources.

Anonymous Says It Hacked Lake County Sheriff's Department; Forces Internet To Be Shut Down

Lake County Sheriff's officials had to shut down their internet connection after suffering a network intrusion. The cyber attacked is believed to have been conducted by Anonymous after a source TFNJ spoke to with Anonymous confirmed they were behind it.

Anonymous says it was able to get names and addresses and other sensitive information about deputies it says are corrupt and abusive and would be release the information in the next couple days.

Foreign Nations Successfully Hacking Into US Digital Cyber Networks Of Businesses And Government

Shawn Henry, of the FBI’s Criminal, Cyber, Response and Services Branch said at least a half dozen countries are actively and successfully penetrating US networks gaining access to large and small companies, and getting into US government computer systems.

Cyber Hackers Bring Down Internet and Phone Service to Palestinians, Some Suspect it's the Result of Palestine Gaining UNESCO Membership

Cyber hackers have managed to bring down the internet and phone service to all of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, affecting nearly all Palestinians.

The Palestinian Authority, PA, spokesperson Ghassan Ghattib said in connection with cyber security analysts that the attack was launched from multiple places around the world at the same time, and they are working to restore service.
